They showed up in the hills above Sarajevo on the weekends to shoot at women, children, the elderly - before then returning to their normal lives back home. Decades later, investigations are underway.

To this day, the horror is palpable in Sarajevo. To find it, all you have to do is open one of the mirrored drawers at the museum by the Grand Park.
Inside are stuffed animals, school notebooks, sneakers, violins – the belongings of children who were murdered in Bosnia’s capital during the war. In one of the compartments, next to a note reading “Irina Čišić 1992–1993,” lies a 7.9 mm caliber projectile.
